Never On Sunday Restaurant

Never on Sunday is the best spot we found in Kos town, hidden in a more redisential area of the city. The place is simple, cozy, welcoming and not pretentious. It is perfect for a glass of wine and some well made local food.The owner is a very pleasant person to talk to and gave us a lot of tips for our trip.

If you are looking for a hidden spot with good food, this is the place to go to. I highly recommend the fried zucchini flowers filled with cheese.The service is very friendly and you can't help but feel like you are visiting your Mediterranean family for dinner.Make sure to choose some of the off menu specials too as these are really good.

We came relatively late in the evening, but the owner still made time to interact with us and made us feel like home.The smell of yasmin in bloom in the air, cosy small terrace with old greek music lightly playing, everyone being so friendly, it felt almost as we were at our grandparents place, it felt safe. The food was extraordinary (we had a few tips on how to improve a meal we usually eat at home, who would have thought that a few drops of lemon would make such a difference).The interior seems as if you walked into a family home, and even though it was past midnight, when i went from the restroom back to the terrace, while i stopped to admire the place, the owner stood by me and explained his family in the photos hanging everywhere. He found time to have a chat and a drink with us, and it almost felt like we belong there, a perfect example of philoxenia (a strictly Greek term which we learned both in terms and examples all through our stay on the island).The beverage came in ice cold glasses, and every person working there made us feel like home.Even while we were leaving, the owners son showed up, and greeted us, and every other guest there with a huge grin and a warm welcome and some kind words.My only regret is that we found this tavern on our last night on the island..Absolutely enjoyed the visit.If you feel comfortable in a traditional rustic environment and being hosted as if you were a long lasting family friend, this is the spot for you

This is a hidden gem in Kos town. If you’re looking for traditional homemade greek food this is the place. We had one of our best meals in Greece. Don’t miss this family restaurant.

This was amazing. Such a personal experience. Incredible food and quick service. Best restaurant on Kos. I guarantee you will love it just as much as we did if you’re into traditional Greek cuisine. I would give it 10 stars if possible.

The most un-touristy place you can find. If you can find it.. A real mom-and-pop place, serving simple but great food in a simple and authentic setting, in the original sense of the word. There is no marketing plan here :) As said by many, the fried zucchini flowers are a must. Enjoy!
